To make sense of each project and follow the flow of my thinking and research a little better it may help to start from the beginning of my blog and read upwards. In doing this the text posts should follow the images and when you have reached the end of one project it should be clear. Thank you.
Here are my Final images together, the way i’d want to present them in my hand in critique. I decided to print the photographs at A4 size as any smaller you may loose detail in the interiors. I feel the order of the prints are appropriate to each other and coexisted well. The dark foreboding interiors against the light windows bringing light from outside makes for a strong contrast. This strong contrast matched my strong feelings towards the house. I feel my concept is understandable and feel my photographs capture my feelings towards the home study.
If I had a chance to carry on this project, i’d like to take some of the techniques i’ve learnt through this project into other areas, such as landscapes using panoramic skills. I have enjoyed shooting interiors and would find it interesting to photograph other interiors at some point.
This last order works best in my opinion, each image feels more coherent in this way. This feeling of the corridors is also emphasised by the placing of light spots in the three photographs.
Each image and as one image, they all face towards the light, expressing the feeling of wanting to be somewhere different. The interiors are so dark that your forced to focus on the windows of each frame. Your drawn to that part of the image. The lighter part of life. In this case the light represents better things, in this case a better house that I can call a home. For now in this in-between stage i’m forced to live in student housing and look at my house in this manner, alway hoping for better things.
I’ve chosen this photograph as i’ve edited it the same and exposed it the same so it will be coherent with the other two photographs. But this image also shows more interior of the house i’m living in than the other photo before hand. This photograph has the feeling of a corridor and leading to light much like one of my other final images has. I now just need to figure out an order for these three images to go in.
I think this photograph fits well with my other two images that i’ve selected in regards to lighting and contrasts. However for a home study I think there’s maybe to little interior showing in this frame and perhaps a photo with more interior will work better and fit with the title of the project.
I feel that these photographs fit together nicely, the light spots in each frame are coherent with each other. The very dark interiors express my feelings towards the house as empty, dark and the very opposite of a home. I feel that this set isn’t complete a third or perhaps fourth image with the same coherency will look great.
Theres a lot of negative areas in these images, but I almost don’t mind it. It makes you focus more on the light at the end of the long dark corridor. I think another symbolic image. My favourite images have this quality to them, a small light peering in to the dark interiors. I feel this is a great way to express my feeling towards my new ‘Home’ .
